Pop Warner National Championship: Jensen Beach wins Pee Wee title

ORLANDO — With one of its best players out with a broken leg, the Jensen Beach Falcons turned to quarterback Liam Martin.

Martin responded by throwing for 88 yards and three touchdowns and led the Falcons to a 24-8 win over the Kapolei Titans (Hawaii) in the Pop Warner Super Bowl Pee Wee Division national championship game at ESPN's Wide World of Sports on Friday.

"It was tough at first and then we started hitting them and saw them getting tired in the third and fourth quarter — then we just dominated them," Martin said. "I didn't play that well in the first quarter, but the rest of the game the passes were pretty good and I stepped it up and had a pretty good game.

"It was a little hard not having (injured running back Tyrese Jackson), because he's our speed back. But we had to go to our power game and just pound them and pound them."

Jackson, who scored two goals in the quarterfinal and one in the semifinal, suffered a broken leg against the Capital City Steelers (N.C.) on Tuesday. Falcons players and coaches even had Jackson's No. 5 on their forearm and right hand.

"Our passing game is good," Falcons coach James Cannata said. "Now instead of our lightning rod Tyrese being in there, we had to air it out a little bit.

"I grabbed Liam Martin before the game and I told him that things happen for a reason. I told him, 'If No. 5 was in the game, no one would realize that you're the MVP of this team.' He went out and did it. It was quite a team effort — it's a team and that's what we do. We came together. Tyrese is big part of this team, but it's just a part."

Jensen Beach opened the game with an onside kick, which they recovered and Martin got the Falcons on the board first with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Will Field.

"I felt like we had a better chance to win the Super Bowl once I scored," said Field, who also caught a touchdown pass in the semifinal win. "It was a waggle left. It felt awesome catching a pass against one of the best teams in the nation.

"It was tough in the first half without (Jackson), but in the second half everyone realized that he got us this far and we should bring it home for him."

Kapolei came right back and drove 32-yards in four plays to tie the game at 8 — which was the halftime score.

"They came out and went through our defense like a hot knife through butter," Cannata said. "We just didn't look prepared. It was just execution. For a while it seemed like we had four kids playing football and everybody else seemed intimidated by the stage. But we just tried to calm them down and get back to our game."

Jensen Beach scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter when Anthony Cannata caught a 4-yard pass from Martin on third down.

The Falcons added a final touchdown midway through the fourth quarter when Robbie Piekarski snuck behind the defense and scored on a 37-yard pass.

"Our guys were wide open every time," Cannata said. "(Martin) has got ice water in his veins. ... He threw lightning bolts. It goes unnoticed, but that kid is a stud. A flat-out stud."

SPREADING THE WEALTH
With Tyrese Jackson out with a broken leg, the Falcons relied on quarterback Liam Martin to lead them to the national championship. Martin threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers – Will Field, Anthony Cannata and Robbie Piekarski.

On his final touchdown pass, Martin had two receivers open behind the Kapolei secondary, but chose to connect with Piekarski — instead of Cannata.

When asked on the sideline why he threw to Piekarski, Martin responded, "Cannata already caught one."

Pee Wee Football Team Wins 2011 TCFC Championship!!!

JENSEN BEACH — The Jensen Beach Falcons football team won the Treasure Coast Football Conference Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5 by defeating the Parkland Rangers by a score of 28-22. The game, played at Whispering Pines Park in Port St. Lucie, was a matchup between two previously unbeaten teams in the PeeWee Division of Pop Warner football.

Running back Tyrese Jackson scored two touchdowns and Robbie Piekarski and Trent "Big Boy" Graham each scored one to lead the team. The Falcons fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter before taking a 14-6 lead into half time. Two scores in the second half put the Falcons ahead 28-14 and the defense held off a late Parkland threat to hold on to the victory. The win gave the Jensen Beach based league it's first championship in any Pop Warner division in more than 20 years. Head Coach James Canata said after the game, "We're not the biggest team out there, and we're not the fastest; but we play as one. These boys are truely a team and they care about each other. I am very proud of my boys." Assistant Coach Torrod Jackson added, "If you're not a Falcon, you're prey!"

Up next for the Falcons is a Regional playoff game against the champions of the Greater Miami - South Florida Conference. That game is scheduled to be played next Saturday, Nov. 12 at Whispering Pines Park at 1 p.m.

• Sat., Nov. 5 @ Publix - Cheerleaders will be greeting customers and asking for donations starting at 10am; stop by before heading over to the Pineapple Festival

• Thurs., Nov. 17 - Aunt D’s Spaghetti Dinner Orders; Pick up between 5PM & 8PM at Aunt D’s Kitchen (Corner of JB Blvd & Savannah, in front of Winn Dixie), place order ahead of time by filling out an order form (see a cheer coach for details), dinners are $10 each includes spaghetti & meatballs, bread, salad, & dessert)

• Friday Nov. 18 – Music Fest in downtown Stuart at the Courthouse Gazebo ( just east of confusion corner on East Ocean Blvd.). It is a fun time for families with live music, bounce house, and vendors. Bring your favorite lawn chair and relax! Cheerleaders will perform!!!

Football Playoffs Schedule and Information!!!!

What a terrifc season! So far SO good!!! The regular season is winding down, but we are gearing up for Playoffs...and things are about to get even better!

All Falcons fans are invited to cheer on our teams at all games during the regular season and especially during the playoffs. Playoffs Entry Fee is $5 for adults and $3 for kids under 12.

Please understand, some teams are at capacity and we may not be able to accept your child this year.

At this time, fees for Football are $250 and Cheerleading is $225. Detailed information about the season and paperwork are all available on the Information Tab / 2011 Forms & Handouts on this website... www.JensenBeachFalcons.com

If you still owe the league any paperwork (photo, report cards, Pop Warner Physical, etc.) , please mail it to Jensen Beach Falcons, PO Box 622, Jensen Beach, FL 34958 ASAP. Please include your child's first and last name along with his/her team level.

ALL PLAYERS AND CHEERLEADERS...

Conditioning begins August 1 from 6pm to 8pm at Jensen Beach Elementary; please arrive early to give yourself time to park in the JBE parking lot, find your coach, and settle in. Conditioning will be every week day for two weeks.

Parents: feel free to bring chairs and coolers with non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. (FYI: Coolers are restricted is during games).

Your football player should wear comfortable athletic shorts, t-shirt or tank top, and cleats or sneakers with socks. He should bring his own water bottle labeled with his name. Pads, helmet, mouth guard, etc. are not necessary at this time. Your coaches will notify you when it is time to start wearing equipment.

Your cheerleader should wear comfortable shorts, t-shirt or wide strapped tank top, and sneakers with socks. She should bring her own water bottle (labeled with her name) and have her up in a pony tail if she has long hair. Eyeglasses are OK.

We are days away from Registration Deadline (by July 15 or $50 late fee) and a couple of weeks away from the Kickoff to the 2011 Falcons Football & Cheer Season! Conditioning starts August 1.

If you have not done so already, please send in your registration fee ($200 for football, $175 for cheer) along with four copies of your child's most recent report card, Original Pop Warner Physical Form, Child's Wallet Sized Photograph, Birth Certificate copy, current utility bill, and Participant Contract & Parental Consent Form.

Cheer Dress Rehearsal - Monday, October 11

Parents & board members: We will be holding a dress rehearsal next Monday, October 11 beginning around 7PM at JBE field for our girls to run through their routines for their first big audience. This is their chance to show off and your chance to invite those folks that may not be able to attend the session on October 17. They will need to be in full uniform, hair back, no nail polish, etc. etc. etc. If you have any questions please contact your head coach. We are all looking forward to a terrific performance by all! Hello Falcons and Falcon Fans! For the last three years, I have been privileged to have the opportunity to take pictures for our website. These pictures have always been the most visited pages of the Falcons Website. I have had to make a difficult decision to discontinue the photos this year. My time constraints due to the growth of my business and health issues make it impractical to continue this endeavor. I am truly sorry that this has to come to an end! Hopefully next year I will be able to resume the Galleries.

Hello Falcons Fans and Welcome to the 2010 Season

We are off to an exciting season! Thank you for being patient throughout the sign-in process!

We are in the second week of conditioning, and if your child has to make up days, make sure you get with your coach to get those dates made up. There has been one Parent Meeting, and we were glad to see so many of you there. If you could not attend, please take the time to get the updates from your team moms.

We have a several fund raisers that help offset the many costs that are not covered by registration fees. The Pizza Fund Raiser is specifically for this year. This is a particularly important fundraiser, and has been very helpful for those who are in need right now for funds to play football or cheer. As the economy continues to slowly recover, there are many more families in need this year, then in previous years.

You should have your pizza fund raiser flyers now. If you don’t have a pizza fundraiser flyer, please get one on Monday. Last year we raised over $1900.00 toward scholarships. Our Goal is to raise over $2000.00 this Year!

Another important Fundraiser is for the “End of the Year Party”. Anthony Palmieri is the head of fundraising has been giving out the raffle packs and wrist bands. This is our future. Please make sure you get your packet. Each of these keeps us going strong, and the greater success of the fundraisers, allow us to make the events such as the “End of the Year Party” a winner!

With all the excitement going on, we often just sit back in our chairs and watch the kids. Why not join some of the other parents and make a few laps every day? While the kids are conditioning, we can too. It clears the mind and frees the spirit.

One last thing! Make sure someone is there for your child! You must have someone on the field somewhere to help if your child has a problem. Get to know the other parent s if you have to work, maybe they can help. Remember we are not the Jensen beach drive by babysitting service. If we catch this behavior, we will be forced to report it to the parent liaison, which will follow through with a report.

Now let’s all get together and have a great time. This is the time to make new friends. You have so much in common with the people around you.
